1. Information We Collect

To provide a personalized and fun experience, You Know Me (YKM) collects the following categories of information when you use our services:

Account & Profile Information (Creators)

When you sign up as a creator, we collect information via Google Sign-In or your anonymous session credentials. This includes your display name, email address, profile photo URL, and a unique user ID.

Quiz & Questionnaire Data

We store the quizzes, questionnaires, and custom polls you create. This includes the questions, options, configurations (such as timer bounds, link pausing state, and hidden words), and timestamp metadata.

Response Submissions (Responders)

When you respond to a friend’s quiz via our web interface, we collect your response answers, scores, and the nickname or identifier you provide. Responders do not need to create an account to submit answers.

Usage, Device & Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to monitor application performance, diagnostic logs, device models, operating system versions, and interaction stats.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected information for the following business and operational purposes:

  • Delivering Quizzes: To display and process questionnaires, record scores, and notify creators when their links are answered.
  • Push Notifications: Sending real-time notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) when friends submit quiz responses.
  • Premium Subscription & Billing: Processing features gated behind Google Play Billing v7 (e.g. advanced templates, custom responses).
  • App Improvement: Finding and fixing bugs, monitoring engagement metrics, and improving layout states.
  • Safety & Moderation: Implementing text-only restrictions and filtering responses against hidden words to protect creators from harassment.

3. Sharing Your Information

Your privacy is paramount. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Your data is shared only under the following conditions:

Public Quiz Links Warning

Quizzes you create are shared publicly via custom links (e.g., youknowme.fun/u/username). Anyone with access to these links can answer them and view the public leaderboard. Creators can pause links in Settings to revoke access at any time.

  • To the Creator: If you are a responder, your quiz responses, score, and entered name will be visible to the creator who shared the link.
  • Firebase Services: We share structured database calls with Cloud Firestore, Firebase Storage, and Google Cloud Infrastructure for hosting and operations.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law enforcement agencies, subpoena, or to comply with child safety laws.

4. Data Security & Retention

We store your data securely in Firebase Cloud Databases located in protected server regions. We employ the following protections:

  • Firestore Security Rules: Rigid database authorization policies ensuring that only verified owners can read and edit their user details, inboxes, and questionnaire settings.
  • Transport Encryption: All client-to-server traffic is encrypted using SSL/TLS protocols.
  • Retention Policies: We retain your data as long as your account remains active. If your account is inactive for more than two consecutive years, we reserve the right to delete your profile.

5. Account & Data Deletion

We believe you should have complete control over your digital footprint. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.

How to Permanent Delete Your Account

Open the You Know Me app, navigate to Settings, scroll down to the Account section, and select Delete Account. This action is instantaneous and permanent.

Upon clicking Delete, the following actions occur:

  • Your profile metadata and Firestore user records are permanently deleted.
  • All quizzes and questionnaires created under your ID are removed.
  • All inbox responses and responder data associated with your quizzes are deleted.
  • Your profile picture is removed from Firebase Storage.

6. Children's Privacy

You Know Me (YKM) does not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not use YKM.

If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, we will immediately delete that information from our Firestore databases. Parents who believe their child has submitted data can contact us at praptechie@gmail.com for rapid removal.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make modifications, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Continued use of the platform constitutes agreement to the updated terms.
